The Wrestler

This is the newest movie by the Director of Pi and Requiem for a Dream, Darren Aronofsky. In this film Aronofsky strays away from the surreal and focuses on the real. This is a documentary style drama about what could have happened to Hulk Hogan( in stead his son is a convicted felon, his Daughter is an unsuccessful pop singer and his wife left him...so, i guess he's on top of the world.), its a documentary style piece which adds to the whole character study.
I don't know about you but i find that at times character studies get s tedious and boring like say one hour photo (...NOT a horror movie!!!!11). However in this film Mickey Roke and Marisa Tomei keep their performances fresh and energetic. This was in part due to Aronofsky not rehearsing the actors and letting them improvise when they felt necessary.
all this really does is make me want to see Aronofsky's version of Robocop!!!!!

Synecdoche, New York

Ok I think this film is clearly a test. and it tests to see if you are a true Kaufman fan. This film is what happens when Charlie Kaufman gets to work alone and seems to have a limitless budget. Its a little weak in the ending but the visuals will stay with you. like all Kaufman films this movie is about a man who isn't happy so he begins to pull at the layers that make up his life and finds only more layers at which to pull at.
a must see weather you rent it or see it in the theaters, i would suggest the theater due to the stunning visual effects used.
on a personal note i think that there is a little too much screen time for the poo and other bodily fluids, and they are not even in there for shock value.

Fears of the Dark

I was torn about this movie, but in the end I fond that is was in fact awesome. However it was over hyped. There were only two really scary shorts and in classic french fashion it was too long and hardly made sense. I wouldn't waste my time try to see this in theater, besides this type of film is best enjoyed alone in the dark. So just wait for the dvd so you can skip to the scary shorts and by pass the nonsense.

Muni Manners

As a San Franciscan I ride Muni a lot, and I have the same gripes that theses ladies do. I have to say Kudos ladies!! I understand that public is for everyone, but some people just f*** it all up for the rest of us. Not just the bums that use the trains and buses as a place to take a nap, I'm talking about the people who know better. i talking about the people who think "o its the bus its ok to do this"...There is a certain type of person that does this I don't want to point a finger but you can see them coming. anyways check them out at

The Fall

To everyone who hasn't seen this movie go do it!!! Well buy the dvd at least. I was one of those lucky people that wanted to see a movie one day saw the poster for the fall, and thought to myself that looks awesome... and it was!!!! It stars the main actor from Pushing daisies and was directed by the guy who did The Cell, Tarsem Singh. I have to say that the Fall is has all of the good things from the Cell and none of the bad( J.Lo).
The Fall is fun ride that everyone i have suggested to go see it has not been disappointed. I would have to say that this is mainly because of the direction, Singh has one of the most amazing eyes when it comes to telling a story. His next project is called War of Gods and is slated for 2010. I am totally going to follow this man through holly wood. Why he hasn't gotten more films is beyond me.
DID YOU HEAR THAT HOLLYWOOD?! TARSEM SINGH WILL SAVE YOU!!!

What Just Happened?

From the title you would think that this another teen movie. but it in fact another one of those weird off beat movies that has a lot of stars and buzz around it. at first glance it looks like one of those hollywood making fun of hollywood movies, but on closer inspection this has a who's who of the successful hollywood artist type.
From the trailer alone I could see some pretty good scene work between veterans that have been around the game for a while and know it forward and back. I don't want to ruin your expectations by talking it up so i'll just list some of the cast. Robert De Niro, John Turturro, Robin Wright Penn, Stanley Tucci, Kristen Stewart, Sean Penn, Catherine Keener, and of course Bruce Willis.
I would see this movie just based on the time of year that it is coming out, if it wasn't any good they wouldn't put it up against sure fire oscar contenders.

Ghost Busters 3 Ghost Busters in Hell

Ok so ever since I was a boy I always wanted to see a third Ghost busters movie, in fact when i was a youngster i just assumed that there was a third Ghost Busters movie. Now having grown to in a man My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of Ghost Busters 3.
What we know so far is that its animated and the Ghost Busters are in Hell. everything else is just a rumor at this point but hey we are all adults why not spread some lies. What I have heard so far: they want Ben Stiller to star in it(...really???) Guillermo del Toro is going to direct it ( well if you are going to a creature movie in the modern age who else are you going to call?) the original cast will return...(wait is Ben Stiller Satan...look into it) all the rest is either wild fantasy or crazy spoiler either way i will be looking for non spoiler updates, or maybe I shouldn't maybe I should just wait and have my mind blown.
either way i am running around my house with a vacuum strapped to my back chasing spiders around asking who ya gonna call???

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

This is the latest Simon Pegg Movie. NO Zombies or awesome action but it does look extremely funny. It seems like he is back to his old style a moved back from the crap he tried with Run Fat Boy Run. Not that i didn't like Run Fat Boy Run but it was just miss that usual "i don't really care what i am doing cause it's funny" style and it seems to be back.
i've got pie in the sky hope, way up in the sky hopes!!!

Iron Man

Yeah so like 70% of the rest of the world I really like the new Iron Man movie. However, I liked it because i am a huge Robert Downey Jr Fan and this was the beginning of his major Hollywood comeback. He was easily the best part of tropic thunder and I can't wait to see what he does in the soloist.
If you haven't heard about the soloist it a Drama that he is doing with Jamie Foxx about a crazy guy that is crazy good the classical music. Both Downey Jr and Foxx are hit or miss but since Downey Jr is on his way up i am sure he will hold this film together. Downey has gone back to the root of why he is an actor like a Phoenix rising from the ashes and taking all that he is involved with with him on the way up.
Any way i just found out the the DVD for IRONMAN is coming out on September 30th!!
Boosh!!!
I don't get it

I am a sports fan and i love my teams even when they lose. With that said i don't understand why people wear jerseys...I mean the athletes don't wear them when they are off the field. No one is going to think "hey look its Jerry Rice just walking down the street...no wait its just Ralph"
With that said it is even more puzzling when people wear jerseys of athletes that suck...thats just asshole dumb and actually kinda funny. Anyway i found this site dedicated to just that. People who wear jerseys of terrible or below average athletes.

Burn After Reading

So I just saw "Burn After Reading" the Coen Brother's new film and frankly they are getting a lot darker. I know that it is super trendy to like the Coen Brothers so most of the people in the theater didn't really get what the film was all about. I'm not going to tell you what i think it is about here, but i will say the film is pretty graphic. I think that the Coens are getting more and more twisted, and less bizarrely hilarious.
It could just be that after "No Country For Old Men" opened a new market, a darker market, and this was some kind of midway piece to bridge the two audiences. Most likely "No Country For Old Men" was so dark that this was the Coen's way of working all the darkness out. Either way I'm glad they are back to comedy and hope their next film is a little lighter.
SpaceBalls 2?

yeah I know I'm late to the party but i just heard about Spaceballs 2 and I'm totally excited. Then i looked a little closer and i realized that it is in fact just another revenue stream for Mel Brooks. I love Mel and I also Like Max Brooks' take on Zombies(i.e. World War Z, The Zombie Survival Guide), so it begs to question why sell out again. SpaceBalls was one of the best movies that Mel made. i would hate to see it go the way of "The Producers"... the movie based on the musical based on the movie.
Come on Mel you can't keep going to these same wells try some thing new.
But then again who know, it might be good.
Cool Stuff
This site is dedicated to awesome stuff that i come across on the net i hope to add at least on awesome thing daily.
